Dr Claudia Manzoni’s research focuses on complex degenerative disorders of the brain, particularly Parkinson’s disease and Frontotemporal dementia. Her work sits at the interface between genetics (how variation in the DNA can influence disease) and functional biology (the actual translation of DNA variation into concrete disease mechanisms). Her final goal is that of describing the risk of disease based on genetic make-up and translate this knowledge into understanding of the molecular mechanisms underpinning brain disease
