Healing Arts Symposium

Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium @ The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art and World Health Organization Arts and Health Program presented this free symposium as the culmination of Healing Arts New York.

How are the arts a vital investment in our physical, mental, and social health across the lifespan? Join leading voices from healthcare, cultural organizations, government, and the United Nations to discuss the arts as a necessary partner in health, care, and wellbeing.

Christopher Bailey, Arts and Health Lead, World Health Organization comments, "With a growing body of evidence that embedding the arts into systems and places of healing can improve health outcomes, lower costs and support recovery from illness, our vision is to lead a Healing Arts revolution that improves the physical, mental and social wellbeing of millions of people worldwide.”

The day-long symposium was produced by CULTURUNNERS in partnership with the Creative Arts Therapies Consortium at NYU Steinhardt, the NeuroArts Blueprint,, an initiative of the International Arts + Mind Lab at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and the Health, Medicine, and Society Program at The Aspen Institute, and the Open Mind Project positions the arts as necessary to physical, mental, and social health across the lifespan.

Symposium Organizing Committee: Christopher Bailey, Heidi Holder, Susan Magsamen, John Blaffer Royall, Nisha Sajnani, Stephen Stapleton.
